Only place my 76' FJ40 has been since it got here, my garage! Getting a new engine in a few weeks!!

I had a 74' with a homemade half top. It was named "Big Nasty" for a reason.... Could not located any good pics of the "custom" top by the PO.

There were small pieces in #1,#2,#5 & #6. I would think as the engine runs pieces would be pushed around. This is my 1st experience with any engine work, so I'm learning as I go with this cruiser.

FJ40 Jim wins! One of the valve seats on Cylinder #5 came apart and was floating about causing all kinds of issues! Luckily the Cylinder walls are not beaten up or scored. The top of #5 Piston looks pretty bad though. At least we know where to go from here, straight to the machine shop to work...

I pulled all the plugs this AM. #1,#2,#5, & #6 are the problem cylinders. #3 & #4 are properly gapped. #1 & #5 are the completely smashed, #2 & #6 are just touched the center electrode. Most likely a FO in the head. We will know more this weekend. Plugs were ordered from TPI Landcruiser.

Subzali- Thanks for posting the thread. Plug looks exactly like mine. Will post what we find this weekend. Did you have a valve job and re-ring the pistons?
