In lieu of measurements (since I forgot to do before measurements), here is a before-and-after picture of the Dobinsons lift.

FJ/FZJ80 Spare tire lift (5" the easy way)

This is a fantastic write up! Thank you for putting this all together especially with the McMasterCarr part numbers! I think I might follow right in your footsteps, especially using M8-1.25 bolts. Do you have any thoughts after a couple of weeks with this on your truck? And do you happen to...

    80 Series Tire Leveling Kit

Thank you for the update! I very much understand prioritizing the projects that people want (and will sell). This is a great analysis. I think I fall in this group! No plans to do a swing out anytime soon.

    80 Series Tire Leveling Kit

I wanted to check again if anyone has heard anything about a @Delta VS version of this. I don’t see anything listed on their website.

Having that list sounds invaluable. Is that something you’d be willing to share with the community (if you haven’t already)? That would definitely help me in the future! Thank you! It was a lot of fun too!

A few people have mentioned this to me over the years! I've had more luck with worm drive style than most it seems. I also find that they don't work on non-OEM hoses that have different outer diameters for whatever reason (which I had to use for 1HD-FT coolant hoses that are NLA - instead had...

Getting the old OEM steering dampener off (to put the Dobinsons one on) was an unexpected huge pain (maybe because this was my first time doing suspension work). This thread and this thread and this YouTube video and this YouTube video were all helpful for reinforcing the procedure. But actually...

Lastly, I spent the last two weeks installing a 2" Dobinson lift from ExitOffroad! Thanks @crikeymike for all the help over email and shipping the kit! I specifically went with specific components I had experienced on another 80-series and had liked: C59-222V front coils (in teal of course)...

I also had a coolant leak from my lower rad hose in 2025, which lead me down a rabbit hole that resulted in me remedying an accidental mistake I made from when I replaced my lower rad hose with an OEM part (instead of a cheap Chinese silicone kit). It turns out I ordered the wrong part! It turns...

And it's been five months since my last update! Time really flies. Until the past two weeks, I hadn't been up to much besides driving around town. In late April, I changed the oil and put on a new OEM filter (for the first time in two years/8k miles, whoops - I want to do every year at a...

Coolant System Refresh HDJ81 / Rear Heater Delete

Turns out a straight 5/8” Gates Safety Stripe hose is the move for me too. Since I have the hose aligned with the angle it wants to bend (from being taken off a reel), it fits great!

Coolant System Refresh HDJ81 / Rear Heater Delete

Thanks, this does help! I did not realize that 1/2” silicone caps intended for high-temp coolant loops existed - that is a straightforward solution to this problem. I’ll also look at using a straight Gates hose like the 1FZ folks do and I think @duece71 did, but I feel like that will be too...

Coolant System Refresh HDJ81 / Rear Heater Delete

Howdy @HillCountryTX! What did you end up choosing to do here? I'm also considering using a section of Gates hose because I don't want to wait for 87209-60360. I do have a 1HD-FT so @ikarus's solution of 87209-60360 will probably work plug-and-play for me but I'm curious.
