Long crank when warm - Issue after valley pan repair

Man, got a notification on this thread and came here to accidentally relive this nightmare. Also realized (finally) that the Tundra was the right truck for me. Took a short detour in a Tacoma after the GX but got t-boned in it and ultimately moved on to a 2020 Tundra that I’ve had a year or so...

    DIY Coolant Valley Leak Repair

This, to me, was the most critical part of the whole job. It really sucks to find out you pinched the o-ring and you have to immediately do the job again. Granted, it’s notably easier to do it the second time as it’s all fresh in your head, but man is it a mental blow. Glad the thread is...

If I recall, the 10MM bolt goes through the wiring harness hard plastic and then through a bracket for the fuel crossover pipe, so yeah, it holds both on and needs removed otherwise the wire loom will remain attached to the intake manifold.

Ahh gotcha. I used a short socket on an extension to back that bolt out and then used a magnet on a stick to grab it and retrieve it. If you’re using a socket and don’t have a magnet, I’ve used something like electrical or painters tape over the open end of the socket and then press the socket...

Have you broke the intake manifold free from the seal it has with the head? If not, it’s got a decent little hold on it and might be just holding on through normal gasket friction. Just a thought I figured I’d mention….though I’m guessing that’s not you’re issue.

The part number is for an individual gasket, you will need two of them, they are identical gaskets just flipped in orientation for installation.

Yeah, just wedge a screw driver or pry tool on there, being careful about what you pry against, and force the wire loom off. If I recall, the bolt is more accessible with the wire loom loose, at least it’s a slightly easier target, it’ll still be hard to get to and tricky to unscrew.

New2MUD and 30k Miles Later on First GX

I put some sticky padding on the bottom of mine and then shoved it up against the windshield 😂. The sticky tape wouldn’t hold it from an adhesion standpoint, but the combination of the shoving it up against the windshield AND the sticky tape would hold it (mostly) in place. Routed the wires two...

    Valley Plate Coolant Leaking

Unless it’s dangerously low, the leak shouldn’t cause any actual cooling system performance issues (like overheating). Mine surely didn’t either, just kept getting low on coolant and if would smell hot coolant when off roading (and the engine was properly hot) and when I’d go up an incline off...

    DIY Coolant Valley Leak Repair

@Maxer lol great notes man. I very much understand that I may have over sold the job a smidge and pushed some to do it that may not have otherwise attempted it, but such was my intentions. You, again, are proof that it can be done by a willing DIYer. Yes there’s frustrating and sometimes...
