Trying to find a local mechanic to help with new clutch slave adjustment. I believe the bell housing is an early one, requiring a longer slave shaft. The slave blew out and drained all the fluid last night.
Tried for 3 hours this weekend to get a new-to-me 2f into my 60 with an engine hoist. We got close, but it was about a half inch away from mating to the transfer case - almost like the output shaft wasn't going into the pilot bearing. I've searched the forums, but couldn't find info on whether...
Update [10/06/20]: New gas tank installed (factory recall) with new seals, sender, return lines, new Koito H4 conversion kit, and I replaced the rear top hatch which was bubbling some rust around the window - sourced a nice rust-free Freeborn Red replacement, new OEM master and booster, new...
At a minimum, I think I’m going to replace the booster check valve and possibly look at replacing the booster. I had similar symptoms after I replaced the calipers/cylinders/etc. it sounds like the booster is the intermittent culprit. Thanks for all your help guys. I love this forum!!
I didn’t remove the heat riser pieces. Wasn’t sure if that would affect exhaust back pressure. Do most folks remove those pieces when putting in a block off plate?
Absolute weirdest thing. I went out to check the booster hose and check valve. Seemed ok. Started it up to check the temps again. No high temps and the brakes felt as they should. Took it for a spin and got it into 4th gear for the first time since I’ve owned the truck. I am beyond excited!!!
