How many amps does the starter motor need (what AWG jumper cables?)

For my 2001 LX470. I'm about to buy a set of these: https://spartanpower.com/product/jumper-cables/ But what AWG is required? I think the 20 ft ones would be more useful, and then I'm looking at a voltage drop calculator: https://www.calculator.net/voltage-drop-calculator.html But I don't...

FIXED: 2001 LX470 third row seat won't release, needs new plastic bushing.

Okay, I was able to fix this today and get my 3rd row seat release working again. I had to replace both the linkage arm (#10 in the above diagram, called "Link"), and the plastic link rod clips. The linkage arm is part 79436-60010. I usually order from LexusPartsNow, and they listed it as in...

FIXED: 2001 LX470 third row seat won't release, needs new plastic bushing.

So I swapped those bushings on the bad side (swapped one end of the linkage arm which had a good bushing with the other end). And that didn't seem to help. I think the linkage arm itself is bent, and therefor applying force at an off angle, so it pushes it's way through the metal eyelet in the...

FIXED: 2001 LX470 third row seat won't release, needs new plastic bushing.

I'm going to try describing this with words for now, because it's very tight in there, and it would be hard to photograph. But I'll post photos later if necessary. I've had a 2001 LX470 for many years, and one of the 3rd row seats won't release from the floor to fold back up. There's a cable...

Velcro alternatives for 3rd Row Seat Straps?

Yeah, that's an excellent idea as well about the seats. I'm just worried that, out of sight, out of mind if they sit in my garage for too long... that they'll eventually get ruined somehow. They're currently in excellent condition. Like... what if a mouse digs into the foam to make a nest...

Velcro alternatives for 3rd Row Seat Straps?

Hmm... that looks like a solution! Though I do worry that it will get loose over time as the strap continues to stretch, and it's not adjustable. I did end up buying the cam buckles recommended above. They are very nice, high-quality buckles. However, I never got the strap to squeeze...

Is there a trick to getting the old plastic cable to come out when replacing the antenna?

I've always had great luck with this website (I've also ordered cabin air filters, floor mats, etc. from them). It's OEM stuff, as far as I've seen...

Is there a trick to getting the old plastic cable to come out when replacing the antenna?

Yes, this worked. I was able to replace my 20-y-o antenna with a brand new one, and the new one works great now. A telescoping antenna really is a beautiful thing (almost as beautiful as glass headlights).... it's a shame they did away with them on newer cars. The replacement was painless...

Is there a trick to getting the old plastic cable to come out when replacing the antenna?

Oh... I suddenly get it... the motor runs until it feels resistance! So it keeps running until the antenna goes all the way up... and if there's no antenna attached, it will spit the whole cable out. Man... there are some clever engineers in the world!

Is there a trick to getting the old plastic cable to come out when replacing the antenna?

And if I DO need to access the motorized assembly, I'll need to take the fender off inside the wheel well..... sounds like those clips that hold the fender in place tend to snap off. What's the part number on those, so I can order extra in case I need them?

Is there a trick to getting the old plastic cable to come out when replacing the antenna?

I went through the carwash today... with the antenna up. Of course, it snapped right off. The inner white cable with the teeth is unbroken, and will still go up and down. I found the part here...

Velcro alternatives for 3rd Row Seat Straps?

Cam buckles are a great idea! I was thinking of putting some sort of spring-loaded clamp mid-strap, like what you might use to hold a potato chip bag closed, but I thought it would look cheesy. Cam buckles would look good. Do you have a link for a suggested make/model of buckle that works...

Velcro alternatives for 3rd Row Seat Straps?

The Velcro on on of my 3rd row seat straps is worn out and not holding anymore. Obviously, I can use a stitch-ripper to remove it, and a sewing machine to sew new Velcro in place. However, it will eventually wear out again. I've seen people on here talking about using snaps on the strap...

Clear plastic cover-slip on LX470 HVAC control LCD peeling up slightly?

In my LX470, the LCD screen for the HVAC has a thin, clear piece of plastic over it with a thin black border around the edge. It is peeling up on the left and right side, probably from age and heat warping. If I press it in with my fingers, it stays in place for a while, but slowly pops back...
