I’m restoring a 1/79 FJ40 and was wondering if this overspray (and other overspray I’ve seen on other 40s and parts and pieces for sale online) is factory or if my cruiser has been painted again and the American body shop wasn’t as careful as the Japanese.

Does anyone sell a nice looking block off for the insulator EGR tube? Or what have other people done. Mine came with some radiator hose and a giant bolt with a clamp around it and it just doesn’t look like it belongs on a landcruiser.

Understandable, I was mainly just making sure we knew 100% that the 1979 came with that upper gasket. My thermostat housing appeared as though it had never been opened before and I just wanted to make sure it came with that rubber upper gasket before I installed one. Might need to buy a FSM

I also have a 1/79 fj40 and I opened up my thermostat housing for the first time in 15 years and there was only the one gasket between the 2 halves. It’s the 2 bolt housing with the 3 bvsv or plugs if desmogged. Did you end up keeping this rubber gasket that sits on top of the thermostat in? If...

2026 update on OEM prices Mega zip is 397.53 Amayama is 385.01 Toyota dealership (told me there’s only 1 in the entire country) 700.00 I might be leaning towards aftermarket now CCOT appears to still be out of stock so looking at SOR and cruisercorps and taking to a professional upholstery place.
