    1FZ-FE Thoughts/Clarification

It seems overpowered compared to my previous FJ62. In a lighter weight, part time 4WD 60 series this engine should really wake up the wagon's performance, especially with a manual transmission. Not sure the tag for @wngrog went through above. I remember reading about a 45 he built with the...

    1FZ-FE Thoughts/Clarification

A 1FZ-FE powered wagon would be my dream 60 series. Regarding the question about MPG, Toyota says this engine is 10% more fuel efficient than the older 2F/3F. A manual would be nice, but not sure it'd be worth all the extra work and cost for me.

Wits End Order Issues / Joey Romero

What's the connection to Romero? Hard to believe there are many customers willing to plunk down that much money for a seat upgrade.

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

The drive to Anchorage isn't real scenic until you reach the Glenn highway, so you didn't miss much, unless some time was to be spent in the Denali area. Instead of leaving from Skagway you could have gone into the Yukon and caught the same ferry from Haines. This route is worthwhile and...

First Land Cruiser After Four 4Runners — Here’s What I Think

Yes and no. Used cruisers could be found for cheap, but a new wagon was expensive. I remember seeing a new 60 series at the JNU airport in the early 80's. After checking the dealer price for one of these, it wasn't surprising to learn that the new owner was a pilot for Alaska airlines. 20+...

    Decisions, decisions….

Nice fleet. Let's see the other two.

How did 80s ride when new and stock?

My '97 LX 450 has stock springs with KYB shocks plus 265/75/16 tires and it rides great IMO. No complaints here.

1994 Landcruiser in Costa Rica - What to Expect?

The plastic heater control valve should probably be replaced if it hasn't already. Also check out all the coolant lines. It's usually recommended to replace the Pesky heater hose. It's a difficult to access short coolant line under the engine. How do the steering knuckles look?

While You’re At It: Front brakes

If you're systematically replacing everything then of course it'd be an opportune time to replace the lines and calipers along with those rotors and pads. I personally would not unless they look sketchy.

    OME shackle correct orientation?

Did you inform Cruiser Outfitters of this shoddy work by Impulse off-road?

First Land Cruiser After Four 4Runners — Here’s What I Think

Another reoccurring complaint was that "real" LCs have inline six engines. Granted, the straight 6 and solid axles were common features for 40 years. I remember one guy wrote a scathing screed about the 100 series and its V8 right after this model was released, calling it nothing more than a...

Too Much Gear Shift Lever Play

Your video underneath seems to indicate that the transmission end is reasonably tight. The shifter end looks a bit loose and crooked to me, but it's out of the frame for most of video.

    Highway oil consumption

How much oil does yours burn?

    Highway oil consumption

So that's about 700 miles, and your oil was definitely at the full line when you started? These beasts do have a tendency to burn oil, and yours is high miles. However, 1 quart in that distance does seem a bit excessive. You can direct the service station attendant to "check the gas and...

Too Much Gear Shift Lever Play

Mine has slop front to back, which I imagine is the most common with these. Thanks for the video.
