I don't know about a whole cruiser but I just stripped a FJ40 hood with the Eastwood auto paint remover and it went surprisingly well.

Some guys like to go with a skinny small diameter wheel after PS is added. Me, I like the look of most of the stock stuff on cruisers so I kept mine. Also, if your PS ever fails you have the wide stock wheel to steer with. Having a small wheel can be brutal on the trail if your PS fails...
