What I'm hoping for is to reuse the 3 speed, the 3 speed bellhousing and the clutch on the 2F.

I've been searching the threads for hours and can't find this particular question. I got a '73 FJ40 project with what looks like the original 3 speed and F motor. The deal included a spare '87 2F. I found a thread that said a pre-'79 2F will bolt directly to the original 3 speed...

Probably would have, but I'm not strong enough to push that hard!

Need water pump pulley, alternator brackets for F and 2F, possibly the harmonic balancer, and a crankshaft balancer nut.

Did you ever solve this? I'm getting ready to do mine and considering the CCOT kit.

I just ran into that clearance issue yesterday. Bought new OEM hooks, but they don't swing far enough to reach the windshield. What's the deal? I thought I got the wrong ones, but they're supposed to fit pretty much all years FJ40. I was thinking about filing the slot (clearance) so they'll work...

Just in case anyone in the future is looking for this...the lower two-piece hoses and heater connector can be replaced by a Dayco 81261 Flex Hose (at least on my 1971 FJ40). Perfect fit.

Apologies in advance, but I really tried to find this before asking...I found the carrier gusseting (1973), the switch to ambulance doors (1975), and the switch to tubular frame (09/76), but I can't find the year the carrier was moved to the driver's side... TIA! Pete
