FJ80 used lift gate shocks
I swapped in the extended shocks from grainger on my 91' fj80. I guess I overheated the steel mounting plates when I drilled out the old studs. It bent after a few days. So, I need another. I need the drivers side shock or just the upper plate if there is any...
Beno, you can't tell me that if we took out your clutches they wouldn't be worn more than a stocker's.
I prefaced my opinion as such, and acknowledged that many people run bigger tires with no problem, and if it's your rig, it's your prerogative to use or abuse as you see fit.
Anything bigger than stock would have a negative effect on the trans. It was spec'd out to that size. A change to rolling mass is compounded by the mechanical advantage of the gears. IMHO 315's make your trans a rolling time bomb, just waiting to explode. But on the other hand, people run them...
What's not possible with a spool if wire! It would be easy to jump it off the middle courtesy light switch. You could isolate the circuit from the middle and still keep the switch function of the map lights.
I'll add my vote to the "run it like it is" crowd. If your going to take the bottom end out, then I would pony up for a full rebuild. If your breaking it down that far, its not much more of a headache to do it all.
