I've been doing a few little projects on my '93 FZJ80 and I have been staring at the dash a bit. There are so many additional spots for switches and accessories. I've tried a few searches with no luck.

What were they all meant for?

Left of steering wheel:
- 1 vertical switch blank
- 2 corner blanks for these
- 1 circular plug right above the speaker (this one has me really curious)

Center console -
- small round plug below ignition (hand throttle)
- 3 corner blanks (1 is for CDL)
- 2 horizontal switch blanks by the rear heater control

This is what I cal "corner blanks":

I just had this thought the other day. If they put the blanks there then they had to have a use.

WAG, but most likley for options we never got in NA. e folding mirrors, rear a/c (not sure on the 80 in other markets), those things.

Can't remember who off the top of my head, but he filled them all up with goodies.

I used a haz switch next to the rear heater space for aux lights :)

I've seen fog light switches that go in the coin holder slots on the console. I figured they were overseas options that went in some of them.

I didn't even think about the coin holders, but those are the same size and switches.

I just bought 3 rectangular hazard switches, 1 will be for my new front lights. 1 may be for future rock lights. The other I think I'll label "DO NOT PUSH" just for the heck of it.

A couple of those slots to the left of the wheel are for the factory winch and fog lights. Those in the center are for the subtank (as I think I recall!), and the rear a/c. When I lived in Abu Dhabi I knew all of them, but heck, I'm getting old! Ned

Your pictured switch is the factory fog light switch. It goes in the outer corner hole. Inside from there is the front headlight squirter switch. Below the fog switch, the large square gap is for the side mirror control switch. In from there (the vertical gap) is a headlight level control switch in some markets, a twist switch dimmer for the cluster in others, but most often blank.

The corner switches in the centre of the dash can be the ECT, the centre diff, the rear demister and the aerial switches. The vertical switches down below the radio/heater area (they sit horizontal not vertical) can be the rear heater, the rear air con, the (dual) damper controller and the sub tank switches. In different markets thee are all factory options so you will likely find reference to them somewhere on the 'net.

Awesome replies guys. Thanks a bunch.

So what is the round blank just below the mirror control in your first pic musmup808?

I wish i knew. The JDM models have the hand throttle on the left of the fuse box. I'm assuming thats what the hole is for.

Correct.

I'm not used to seeing the LHD. Interestingly, it isn't just a mirror image of the RHD, with everything reversed. Ignition and hand throttle remain on the right of the column (for right hand control) and the diff lock switch remains on the left of the column (for left hand control). This makes the dash look rather weird to the eye (for me).

Yeah, what market is that from? I wonder if the internal dash structure is different?

JDM market. Same, just different sides of the truck. The holes are pre-made, just covered with the material.

I'm thinking "Jesus" bar?

I always called them "OH SH*T!" bars:hillbilly:

I know what the oh shi*t handle is! I totally blanked on the Jesus bar though! Haha
