I’m guessing their reasoning was they wanted ultimate reliability, without the need to be doing 150-KMH on the highway, motorway, etc. My understanding these were used in austere places where you rarely even saw pavement, except in town.

I just drove the 105 yesterday. Put some fresh diesel in it. Just think, with the price of fuel, this thing will save you money, as it just sips the fuel compared to most other Land Cruisers.
