    B-series & H-series landcruiser Engine-Serial-Number/VIN-Number thread

Am trying to get the info right on my 1979 Costa Rican BJ40. VIN is BJ40-029041, B engine serial is 024468 and the aluminum data plate was painted over by the PO. Does anyone have any picture of what the data plate on the firewall should look like for a BJ40? What info is on there? Thanks...

Rusted front wing vents, how do I go about fixing this?

Materials on hand is not the issue, finding the right person is. Anyone know someone able to manufacture this ?

Rusted front wing vents, how do I go about fixing this?

Definitely in the to do list of things to learn. Unfortunately this pandemic has kept me away from the our workshop. We have a BJ40 we're fixing and need to solve this in the next ~30 days before we paint.

Rusted front wing vents, how do I go about fixing this?

Cut and weld is our first option. I made a 3D sheet metal model and had segments cut, but I am not a welder and I do want a long lasting solution. Has anyone purchased them from SOR and compared the quality versus the original ones?

Rusted front wing vents, how do I go about fixing this?

Hello friends, I've been looking around the forum for a solution to this but haven't quite been able to find much information. The Wing Vent assemblies of both front doors are rusted at the bottom, and aren't sure how to fix them. Is this something a skilled person can fix? Is it better to buy...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

We need some advice on the process to replace the door wing vent frame. As we took apart both of our doors, the frame was rusted on both doors towards the bottom. It's easy to assume water bypasses the weatherstrip and settles in the frame, rotting away. What's the best way to fix these...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

Update! The rear leaf spring hanger/ perches fit correctly! With every custom made part, there's always a doubt whether it will fit as intended or not. I designed the part in Onshape, had the various components built locally including sheet metal and the cylinder. A local shop soldered the...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

Hi Longhunter. A bit of both, family and I were here when the quarantine happened, staying at our grandparents house. We live in the US but decided to stay here until pandemic settles. My cousin and I purchased the Cruiser to rebuild throughout the quarantine. We didn't have much to do here, so...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

These past few days I've had the chance to use the BJ40 around the farm, using it and deciding what needs done asap and what can wait for later. To date, we're having the Shackle Hanger/Perch and the plate that attaches to the chassis CNC cut and bent out of 4.7mm steel. It seems they were...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

Here are some more pictures: CAD Renders of the new plate and spring perch. Looks good under the chassis: It seems every shop in town is fixing one a Land Cruiser. They're everywhere. This one has hydraulic steering and a Land Cruiser Prado Engine, it think it's a 3.0 Turbo Diesel. Will be...

    El Quarantico: a '79 Costa Rican BJ40

Hello guys, my cousin and recently purchased a 1979 BJ40 which, albeit looking a bit like frankenstein, is actually in pretty good condition and original parts. Being stuck in Costa Rica for 3 months now, we decided to pull the trigger on this project and hope to have it soon in ~2 or so...

    Builds Project 2027: 1977 FJ40 Rebuild

Looking good! Seriously considering installing one on mine. Care to share how you connected to your air filter box? I've seen installation with a round tube, but my airbox has an oval one (non US)

Additionally, we bought new tires General Grabber AT2s in 31x10,50 R15 and painted the rims light grey. Love the way it looks! Flat tires and ugly rims when we bought it. Painted rims and new tires

Some pictures of the "final" result. Cleaner wiring overall. The fuse box is in a temporary location, we want to buy or a fab a better attachment plate for the fuse box so we don't have to drill the firewall. New battery, plus cleaner wiring definitely changes the looks of the engine bay.
