A friend in Sri Lanka has:
BJ43004932
B 0624159
11411-56050

The only original details I have for mine is BJ40013719 as when I got it (18 years ago) it had a 2H fitted as it had been a winch race truck. Tha docs said it was a 77 but an old guy in a Toyota spares department said, "no,it's older than that'. A while back I found the following tables which may well be on here but I can't remember where from but they may help...

Is this 1980 or 1981? Hopefully I'm in the correct place. The reason I ask is I need to replace fuel cap and there are 2 options 80' & 81'.

Thanks in advance.

I also just saw that yours wasn't too far before mine.

Am trying to get the info right on my 1979 Costa Rican BJ40.
VIN is BJ40-029041, B engine serial is 024468 and the aluminum data plate was painted over by the PO. Does anyone have any picture of what the data plate on the firewall should look like for a BJ40? What info is on there? Thanks! (Pictures: what it looked like 1 year ago, plus what it looks like today. Almost finished!)

Hi Everyone:
My BJ42 was imported from Italy, with a MO title in 7/18, here are the numbers, sold to me on 10/2019 as a 1981:
Model: BJ42KV-KCW
Build date: ? wish I knew! I saw a chart with a range of 8/80 to 9/82 from a website ToyoDIY.com.
Vin: BJ4200901353
Frame: BJ4200901353
3B Engine S/N: 0444506
Block No: 11411-58010
Interesting, I have been searching for information on a BJ42 we have in the shop right now that was imported in from Ukraine, that was originally from Italy. It was Supposedly "rebuilt" in Moldova before being taken to Ukraine.
It appears to be really close to the one you have
VIN/Frame# BJ4200901231
3B Engine S/N 0443324
Block No: 11411-58010
Shows to be a 2/81 production

Thanks for all this great info guys..
Im trying to work out what year my B engine is so I can order the rebuild kit.
The problem is I bought the engine only from a wrecker to put into my series 3 88inch Land rover so don't have a body serial number. The wrecker told me it was out of dyna.
So going from the block number (11411-56060) it looks like it might be around 1980 ish?? The placement of engine serial number (0899529) between intake port 1 and 2 would suggest it could be a 1984 or 1986??
Im confused???
Any advice on where to get a rebuild kit from??

If someone can complete the information or knows where to look at it....would appreciate the info!

Best regards to all from Uruguay!

Have a 3B on the engine stand right now and I show a casting number on the left rear of 11411-58010 and a serial number next to injector 1 of 0470000. This was purchased many years ago and I'm going to start rebuilding it if it isn't warped or cracked. Any ideas on what year this engine might be?
From the broken information and history on this one there may be issues with the precombustion chamber cups.

My running 1979 BJ40 also has a 3B motor swapped in to it but I am not close by to get the serial and casting number off of it. I'll post it as soon as I get back home.
