Boring story coming up but in Colombia you have to remove non-original equipment for the annual roadworthiness test. For me that meant removing and replacing my fog lamps once per year. That's too much effort for me so I got the original Toyota ones.
In the FJ40 today and it's been stood unused for a while. A multitude of weird electrical behaviour started.
Turn side lights on -> side lights come on, tail lights work correctly. Instrument cluster lights up. But use indicators and the side lights blink.
Turn main lights on -> headlights...
Big day today. The first time in almost 4 years that one of my 40's hasn't been in pieces. So I've dropped off the olive one for some small snags and brought the beige one home with me.
Olive one was a nut and bolt restore of a wreck. Beige one was quite nice already when I bought it but I...
I wondered because my FJ40 is currently in the shop and they put a large amount of masking tape around the hole that the support slots in. I figured surely there must be some kind of rubber thing that goes here. So I am specifically talking about not damaging the paintwork when it's not running...
I hope I'm in the right place. Does anyone know the name of the rubber thing that goes on the bottom of the hood support?
Better still a part number or a supplier would be stellar
Thanks
Sorry for turning your forum into Pinterest but it seems impossible to get hold of the plastic handles for the lever that reclines FJ40 seats, so let's make some.
I've got lots of these little jars. Admittedly my kebab sticks and tape were a bit amateur.
Add my alginate, prop it up and leave...
Drove this one down to the bodywork guys in the mountains.
Back doors having a new mechanism made, spare wheel carrier is getting itself unbent. Whole front is coming off and getting put back on neater. Roof and its frame is going to need painting again.
Brought this one home with me.
Call it trivial but it's taken me two years and lots of scalded thighs before I got around to fitting this cup holder.
Also the wobbly runner on that passenger seat fixed today.
I don't want to rock up here with my self-confessed lack of knowledge and put incorrect info on the forum. This red FJ40 in this thread had clown car wheel arches so where the mudflaps go is potentially not relevant to other 40s.
I have another 40, 1979 series 2 and I'm not convinced there's...
Actually if you look at the image of the back of the vehicle in the first post it seems to have two exhausts at the sides of the rear step so it's entirely possible that fouling the exhaust was not a consideration when the mudflaps were fitted. The correct exhaust was installed to get it through...
