:D

Took a little more than two hours and by my guesstimation used half a gallon of gas. Was some really nasty stuff that would have stalled a mid sized splitter, maybe even a larger one.

Got it from my neighbor, bartered for some welding on his trailer. He's had it for 25 years sitting in a corner of his shop, until I saw it. Took about three hours to adapt it from a 8 lug ford pattern to the Cruiser.
It's made in Denver CO. and called a Dynasplit Log Buster. I'm betting an Aussie thought of it originally though. I call it the Log Hog!

You are a braver man than I for using one of those!

Oddly enough I think it's safer than a regular splitter, once you figure out the physics involved. Only running it in first gear (H-41) at idle so you are forced to work slow.

That's awesome JR. Looks like a Ben Hur log splitting device.

That gives me an idea, if I mount two on the left side that might stop people from drifting into my lane as they rubber neck from the passing lane!

Thats just plain cool. We need some video.

Not sure if I'm that savvy, but I'll give it try tonight. It's mezmorizing to watch.

You might be a redneck if...........! : )

nah, he wheels his rig!

I'm trying to understand how the drive line is setup so you only turn the splitter and not the whole truck.

The splitter is supposed to go on the rear axle but I have an aussie locker in the rear. I didn't want to wear out the side gear on one side of the locker so I put it on the front (open diff). Disconnected the rear drive shaft from the T-case, locked the hubs and put it FWD.
Ratchet strapped the passenger front tire to the spring so the splitter can't grab a log and turn. Tried to grab some video last night but the batteries for the camera were dead, plugged them in to charge and we lost power shortly after. I'll try again later in the week.

Neighbor's giving me free wood!

Well, nothing is free. He has a bunch of 100+ year old sugar maples that need to come down before the tops fall on somebody. We get the wood if we fell it, buck it and clean up the debris. As you can imagine some of these run 20" plus at the base, and are really heavy to lift into the M-416. So, my redneck went to town this afternoon and this is what I have so far.
