long story short: little sluice will be dynamited on friday and "smoothed" out. there's a lengthy thread on the pbb about it all.

so i decided to close down the shop for today, we put the buggy on the trailer last night and hauled ass up there this morning to go for one more run. hit the soup bowl on the way in, then ran the sluice three times. even though that portion of the trail was already officially closed, we got permission to run it.

so a cruiser was the last rig to run the sluice in it's current state.

had a great day. fantastic weather, trail in great shape and the sluice was gnarly. and the only three rigs there were FJ40s.

better than working .......

happy birthday mark!!!!!!!

Way to go Georg !
Glad it was a Cruiser to make the last run

this would have never happened without some help from John Pardi. thanks again John, as always, great hanging out with you!!!!!!!!!

Well that sucks, us Canadians were looking at possible lines for attempts next year and now its going to be gone. Why would they do that to an optional obstacle? Next they will be blowing apart soup bowl.

too bad they feel like dynamiting - yet again  - if only we could get them to understand the concept of a "gatekeeper"

Sad but true, the soup bowl is scheduled to be "modified" as well ..... :frown:

Well guess we will have to just run Fordyce then for a challenge. At least the events are fun and a good way to meet people.

We're always worried that fordyce will be closed next ...... So we're planning on running that trail in a couple of weeks. It's gotten pretty rough up there. Even the bypasses require a well built rig.

wants.....fj40......buggy.....

cool pics. looks like a blast!

got a build thread for that buggy? that's kinda what i wanna do with mine.. .

It really sucks they are blasting Little Sluice, I never do that obstacle but it should be there for those who do. The Wentworth access is also being pretty much paved up to Ellis creek. :frown:

We did Fordyce a month ago, it's no joke. No problem for your rig, but not for the faint of heart, or mildly built rig.

FYI; The WH1 obstacle is now easier than the bypass. The bypass is all skinny pedal, nothing subtle at all about getting over it. We had three double locked dual Tcased rigs and all had to winch the bypass. It's just polished granite coated with talcum powder, slicker than whale s***.

man why are they doing that? SO glad i was able to make it up there a few years ago and run the Con at least once

Surprisingly, there's no definitive answer.
There's a whole ton of finger pointing though.
The basic premise is that leaking and rolled rigs are contaminating the soils under the box. So the solution to the problem... Cold crack 13 of the large boulders and helicopter in 800 cu yd. of small boulders.
The other direction of blame has been pointed at lesser built rigs having "buggy envy" and wanting sluice to passable for them to run it. Who knows!!
I wheel w/ rustytlc regularly and have never run sluice, but I certainly dont want to see it paved either!!! Postpile and soup bowl are also targeted.
