well, i guess it's time to start posting up about this years' event. since last years' run worked out really well, it's going to be "same place, same time". that translates to saturday, august 30th thru monday, september 1st at deer valley in northern CA.
as always, anybody is welcome and the event is freeand so's the raffle. last year we had 16 fj45s, so let's see if we can break that record. i will post up more info later, including directions.
raffle: once again i'll be couting on the support of our land cruiser vendors and particiants at the event. so bring a small prize for the raffle. does'nt have to be anything big. we've had prizes ranging from hats to a roll cage and everything in between.
i think in the interest of keeping the raffle short, we'll change the format a little this year. we'll count the number of attendees ( that's right, as long as you bring a vehicle, you get a free raffle ticket ) and will then split up the prizes into packages. everybody will win a prize package. the main prizes will go to the guys who brought 45s, same as always.
we will be doing a cash raffle again as well. tickets are $10 and you can buy as many as you want. all the money goes in a hat. after everybody has bought their tickest, the money gets split in half. the first half goes to ONE winning ticket that will be drawn at the end of the prize raffle. the other half goes to the "friends of the rubicon foundation". last year, dave B. won $780 and i donated $800 to FOTR on the behalf of the run and all the attendees. let's see if we can donate $1000 this year.
fwiw, last year's jeepers jamboree donated $1500 which averaged out at roughly $1/participant. in comparison, we had 52 vehicles in attendance............
