I am new to IH8MUD, I am restoring a 1961 fj 25 hardtop,it has been in my family 33 years. It has less than 19,000 original miles. It runs and drives but needs body and seats redone, Has 16 inch rims, 4 sp. on floor, the glass all is good has FJ25L Japan logo . It has a heater, single speed trans. case. I will try to put up a picture. Live in In.
If any one has info on 25 hardtops I am ready to learn.

The vin starts out CFJ25xxxxxL for the fj25 and thanks for the welcome, I am still learning how to use a computer.
 
Welcome! We need some new FJ25 blood around here. :) Some of us are old farts, so no computer worries here.

I added you to the Count the 25 Thread you are #123! Go through that thread, we may have counted you if there was ever a sighting of your 25. You'll also see some other hardtops in there.

There is a ton of information in this section but feel free to ask or post any questions. We're pretty laid back here, and every time a new 25 shows up we all learn something new. :)

Since your 25 has been in the family since new, you'll know who to blame if any parts are missing. :hhmm:

Your VIN probably really starts with 0FJ25-2xxxxL the 0 would be for 1960, the year of production. The VIN plate may be stamped with 1961, but that was the year it was sold and titled. It's worth a check on the right front frame rail to see what the VIN is there. Share as much of the VIN plate as you want, we've even had discussions about the differences in the plates.:bang:

No kidding. Reminds me of the tail between two cities. Outside rough but the inside is definitely workable. Would like to see closer outside pic and underneath. For the age, I'd sandblast it and get a better idea of what is needed. Any questions on paint and body work ask me, I'd love to help you out...

The original color red outside, gray inside. I hand sanded front floors and primed.The gas tank was cleaned out, sanded and primed. The windows work fine you take a cover plate off and loosen a screw put your hand in slot and raise or lower window,Could be hasardas doing wile driving. queston , my 16 inch rims arent split rims can a raidel tire be run? This FJ has had a Slecto hubs on front as long as I can rember old sticker on drivers side from company. I will try to put a few more pictures up. The oustide is solid but has a lot of surface rust.bottom of rear back sides will need new, it says I have exceded my quota on pictures
 
Keeping posting and your quota will go up on pictures or you could buy a star. Radial tires would be fine on these rims as long as you don't go to wide. Color should be red or grey but not both. What ever color it was almost the whole vehicle was painted it including the frame and rear bumperesttes. to raise and lower the window there should be a handle in the larger opening to lift. Do you have the handle or are you just lifting the whole window? Slecto were porbably a dealer add-on. These came from the factory with drive plates. Most have had free wheeling hubs added, if not by the dealer than by PO.
 
How hard is it to find all weather strip for complete rebuild? or is it even out there. early hubcaps? I have been buying 1 barrel carbs large window on ebay and rebuilding them , Does any one make a intake for F engine for 3 1 barrels carbs? also found a large window 2 barrel Aisan carb rebuilt. The gray on the inside likes original like primer also found gray primer like under one coat of red outside.
where do I buy a star fpr pictures at?
