Hi Guys
I have a question, The early FJ40 does it use the same centered rear dif. housing as a FJ25? If so The rear drive shaft would run at a angle, would it hold up ? Or all FJ40 have offset rear dif. housings.
My steering wheel for the 25 is in bad condition, cracked all over. steering is still very tight, bought a FJ40 wheel in very nice condition ,I know they are dif. for turn signal lever , but wont fit on 25 shaft, I dont mind shutting off signal lever after a turn. can I get this wheel to work on the 25 ?
any info would help Thanks Toy25ht Bill

1. Yes the early FJ40s had a centered diff up thru 1963. And they have held up.

2. the steering whell you have is probably for a 7/69 and later. The spline count changed. Steering wheels from before 7/69 should work. Count the splines on your steering shaft and then check SOR.com site for steering wheels. I think the earlier one was 33 and the later 36.

:steer::steer:Hi Guys

Hey Bill, Aaron here. I'm alive and well Down Under! Thanks for the inquiry. I have been terribly busy since my arrival. Settling in with a new job and a new truck.

I sold the 64 to a guy in NY with the condition that if he sells it I get first dibs to buy it back. The shipping cost were a bit unrealistic at the time to send her over. You can look in the 55 section under "MOOSE" and check out my new ride. I'm still looking for an older 40 over here.

Your project is coming along nicely. I am sorry that I wasn't able to get down to see you. I was really busy before I left. I will be back in the States in the beginning of June. I'll give you a call then. Take care.
Aaron

Hi Guys
Question, on the FJ 25 Is there an adjustment for expanding the brake shoes or do you have to take off drum to adjust. I have adjusted reg drum brakes on other trucks, Gm, Ford ect
Thanks Bill

Hi Guys
Got adjustment under control, just looked at CD I got from Cruiser Nerd ( Jim great job on CD ) information was there. I little harder than other drum brakes I have done in past.
Bill

Bill, that's good to know, I had done a writeup on it a long time ago, but no idea if it was correct or not.

Hi Guys
What to do ? I bought new foam for my 25 seats from sor, when I try to match up with old [ horse hair ] I noticed the foam is cut out for coil springs for 1963 - on. I bought an old set of seats that has the coil springs and frames in good shape no covers. should or could the coils be adapted to my old 25 seat frames? or where do I find foam and covers for the 25 seats reasonable ?
Thanks Bill

Hi Guys
Been driving the 25 daily for about 3 months now. Getting a lot of looks but people still want to know
what year jeep that is? Have to set them straight Land Cruiser. Wanting to do complete Brake service
Is there a rebuild kit for 25 wheel cyl. ? what about getting shoes relined? brake hardware and wheel bearings and new gaskets for slectro hubs. Hey Jim front drums came off easy but still can not get rear
drums off yet. Hope you are getting well.
Thanks Bill

Wheel cylinders are standard 1" bore. There is a napa part # in the parts thread i think. If that doesnt work, Apple Hydraulics will bore, sleeve, and rebuild em. Or i used another wheel cylinder that a PO had installed but the brake lines will need to be changed to US thread. Check the brakes thread for lots of info. I have a local place in New Haven that re-lines shoes. If you cant find a local shop, i can drop off your set. Try backing off the adjusters to get the drums off. But be careful not to snap anything! Use lots of pb blaster before turning them if they are frozen.

Hi Guys
Got new shoes and all brakes on and every thing works great . stops straight doesnt pull to either side.
even broke down and replaced the tires ,same tires my uncle drove it home on 35 years ago, went to
Pep boys quote $869.29 for all 4 out the door , the told me they match from other vender so called Discount tire $625.00 out the door, Pep boys matched and gave me 4th tire free, finale cost $460.00
out the door. made by cooper for pep boys Definity Dakota M/T radial 235-85-16 mounted on my 25
wheels, 31.5 inches tall. They ride very well for a lug type tire. note to self next time paint rims before
getting new tires. Still need a fj25 rim for a spare tire.
Thanks Toy25ht Bill

Man sweet. I'd put some stock hubcaps on and just keep cruisin... love the clean drivetrain worn body look.

She's coming along beautifully Bill. Keep up the good work.
