The M8274–Warn Industries’ most iconic winch—is evolving. It will maintain all the things buyers love about the product: speed, durability, and its famous shape, fitting in perfectly with the rooftop tent and the rest of the never used bolt on mods on your Jeep.
Comes with ~0’ of 3/8” diameter aircraft-grade steel cable. So that you can choose which kind of cable you get. I prefer steel so that when it breaks excitement happens instantly as you attempt to dodge the recoiling wire cable. You’ll obviously need to replace the cable (search on FB) as there’s several steel Warn winch cables for sale for $50 from people who went synthetic. Pansies! Or don’t if you like to live life on the jagged edge and take risks while you try and remember how to tie a bowline knot around a tree. If that’s the case I’m looking for a rafting partner to go run Gore Canyon with.
The M8274 is evolving. We took our most iconic winch and added more performance and more features. It is still the fastest of any WARN winch and it used to have the longest rope length (150’), with power courtesy of a measly 4.5hp motor for an 8,000 lb. capacity, and lawn mower solenoids giving you questionable longevity. The legend continues but not for the MSRP of a brand new 8274 of $3,534.29. But seriously what do you expect for $700? If you want reliability you’ll need to pony up and buy the brand new one with a warranty.
-Low-output due to corrosion 4.5 horsepower motor giving you maybe 8,000 lbs. of pulling power which says I can snap any sapling I hook to when I get stuck in the parking lot on a curb. Should you decide to venture out of the parking lot and actually into CO wilderness you’ll have the confidence and reliability to save your relationship when you’re stuck deep in the woods—ideal to stop today’s constantly nagging wives and girlfriends.
-IP68 waterproof Albright electrical contactor for the ultimate in reliability and control which this winch doesn’t come with. But the brand new $3,500 version does.
-Restyled high-strength polymer control pack housing for a modern twist on classic styling. But who cares you know electrical and can hot wire it right? Let’s be serious you’re never going to actual pull the line out. It works flawlessly with my personal controller for my other 8274. I’ll happily demonstrate it for you maybe…or you can just ask for the video.
-Ergonomic stainless steel clutch T-handle is easier to use than before. It’s still plastic…because we couldn’t afford the upgrade for our low selling price.
-Two Oilite® bushings installed on the pinion gear assembly for improved durability in extreme recovery conditions. I don’t think the original 8274 has this. But we’ll leave it in because it sounds fancy!
-Bolt-and-washer assembly replaces retaining ring on brake shaft. Nope. It’s still got its retaining ring.
Proudly made in the USA in Clackamas, Oregon because if you can work on your winch with your fat fingers that means we don’t need children to assemble them like Nike.
If you want to negotiate to feel better about your purchase the price is $900 and I’ll let you talk me down to $700. Then you can tell the CFO you beat me down $200 cause I’m some dumb hillbilly from southwest VA. Now that’s what we call back home a toofer…you look fiscally responsible in front of the CFO and you get a good deal on a new to you wench. All without the divorce cost.
