I have my 1984 FJ60 for sale. The vehicle has been in Madison, WI for about a year. It was in Portland, Oregon before moving here. The undercarriage has been washed regularly since I brought it to Wisconsin. It’s relatively rust free because it hasn’t been exposed to the road salt yet. The rear cross member started to rust on the PO, so he had steel welded to the frame to fix it.
A lot has been done to the vehicle within the past few years. I cleaned and resealed the fuel tank with POR-15 within the previous few months. I cleared out the brake hardlines, replaced the soft lines, filter, and pump (it runs much better now). The carb was rebuilt by Mark at Mark’s off road. This was done a couple years ago and runs great.
I rebuilt the rebuilt the front knuckles a few years ago. The following has also been done: replaced the master and slave clutch cylinders, new brake pads all around, new clutch, flywheel, and throw out bearing, new oil pan gasket, new rear main seal, new bvsv sensors, new thermostat, all new vacuum hoses, new front calipers, new wheel cylinders for the back wheels, new brake master cylinder, new window channels, new radiator, new radiator fan, new fan clutch, new water pump, new belts, new starter. The engine was replaced last year with an engine from a 1983 by Tim at Landcruiser Specialties in Oregon. It was replaced because I shredded the bolts on the timing gear cover and then proceeded to try to drill them out (
). All the new parts were swapped over from the previous engine to the current engine.
It has its typical issues for a 40+ year old car, but it’s a blast to drive and runs great. I can send more photos, just DM me.
