For sale 40-series 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 – Chevy 350 / TH350 – $22,500 OBO

Selling my 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 after about five years of ownership. Clean Oregon title in hand.


I bought this as a fun cruiser, not as a restoration project or serious off-road rig. I’ve enjoyed it, kept up with maintenance and made a number of improvements along the way. Selling now simply to make room for some other toys.


Drivetrain / mechanical

• Rebuilt Chevy 350 small-block V8, carbureted
• GM Turbo 350 automatic transmission
• Power steering
• Disc brakes
• 4WD
• New radiator
• Converted from electric to mechanical cooling fan
• Runs and drives well — I’ve driven it at 50–60 mph without issue
• Maintenance up to date

Recent work / upgrades

• Painted last year
• New seats with shoulder belts
• LED headlights
• Bluetooth stereo/CD player
• Subwoofer and two front speakers
• Tires approximately 3 years old

Other details

• Very minimal rust for its age
• All gauges work
• Speedometer starts registering after driving for a few seconds
• One front side/marker light is currently out
• No heater
• Small/minor transfer-case leak
• Bikini/soft top setup
• Painless wiring kit and some additional parts included but not installed

This is a 56-year-old modified Land Cruiser, not a concours restoration. I’m not an FJ40 expert and don’t want to represent it as something it isn’t. It’s a great-looking, fun cruiser with a V8 and automatic that’s been very enjoyable to own.
