Well always a sucker for a deal ConcreteJungle and i headed to Fredrickburg to pick up a couple skids from lance and have them installed at his shop vs. the gravel driveway. Having seen these skid plates last year when i was at iron pig for my ARB i new they were beefy, but wow! and they have been tweeked now so that there is no drilling and tapping of the frame. There is a simple bracket that uses an existing threaded hole that gets welded to the back corner of the plate for support; to this end it allows flexibility to fit all trucks despite the history of the vehicle(ie frame misalignments and such). over all through and through a quality product. and of couse, the pics............

LX-- there is a drain hole for transfer case as well; best shown in first pic where it is not on the vehicle

Arya-- Alex came too; 85 all the way, 250miles door to door

Hey Arya, yea i took mine for a skid also. We just rocked up 85/95. We had planned to come back down 81, but honestly it was a long damn drive and i just didn't feel like adding hours to the allready long drive.

No kickbacks, but i want to say that all of us east coast guys who wish we had slee on this coast....well, we do! Iron Pig is the real deal. I was amazed at their shop, the folks working their, and their overall professionalism. This skid is the real deal. I opted to let them install due to the heavy weight of the skid, me not having a welder or a lift or air tools.

I was checking out some of the stuff they have going on in there and i was very impressed. Talking to Cam, they have big plans for 80 products and i'm excited about that. They will have a new rear bumper coming out VERY soon. They are in the works with a front bumper that is going to be very similar to slee's "new" low profile bumper. They are also coming out with sliders too. So all you fellas on the east coast who need some serioius fab work or product, this is your place.

just so you know the type of things they are up to, theres a pig gettin 80 axles, another goin w/ the 2UZ-FE s/c, some resto projects, a SAS taco, and the pig on thelift is getting full drivetrain from a 'burb ( dana 60/70, 350, tranny etc) and the staff was busy but cool enought to let us poke around and provide some 80's minded input.

Looks good. Can't wait to get mine! But those transfer studs seem to hang down to low. I think it will be a problem. Anyway of fixing that?

you could trim them up. That's what i'm thinking of doing.

Yeah i was thinking of that. Like cut them flush with the nuts.

10-4. That's what i was thinking anyways. That shows the reason the stock skid/crossmember is layered. It allows the bolt bottoms to stick out between the two layers of the cross member.

The only other thing i could think of is to cut out a circle of steel and weld it around the bolts. At least that would flush the screw bottoms up with the metal circle....catch my gist?

Yeah i understand. But now your talking more fab work. Which I would like to avoid. Plus the metal rings would still hang low. And they would be bigger/ fatter getting hung up more on rocks. I don't know i think i will just chop it flush.

Sweet

Hey my pig is famous. That is my green and white 55. It is getting 80 axles, a supercharged 2UZFE, Lexus LX470 transmission and FZJ80 Transfer Case. Lance and Cam are good people, and they are very lenient allowing me to do what ever I want with the truck. In that picture, I am working on the 3 link, since the leafs don't work with the steering on the 80 axles. Lance really does have some great ideas. So if you have any projects hit him up.

Ryan.

Ryan, that thing is WAY COOL!!

I was looking at that. Who makes the high steer knuckle arms? Also, nice shocks and bumpstops. You are doing it up right. Very nice.......if you don't mind i snapped a few pics for ideas.

I agree, Cam and Lance are great. Lance was out hauling a suburban to the junkyard, so i pretty much hung with Cam while he did the install.

No Problem

Cool. The high steer knuckles were done by OTT industries in Canada. The arms turned out great, but they aren't making them any longer. Besides the wait was over 6 months. I am going to work on the 55 all day tomorrow so I should have the 3 link finished and flexed out. I need to come up with some way to mount the shocks and bumpstops, but that is another days project.

Coold trip, wish I could drool around a shop like that all day too. jfz80 or concrete could you tell me how far below the t-case the skid plate is on the IPOR unit? My Slee t-case skid is about 1/2 - 5/8" below the case. That is like going up a tire size in clearance.

concrete love the sig line. and love the pig scottryana!

Mo, it's probably about the same. It's real tight.

Ryan, what kind of wheels are those on the pig? They look almost like one wheel welded to another. Cool.
