The 80 skids used to have countersunk trans mount hardware but customer feedback called for a design change. It's EASY for us to install that way here in the shop, the truck is on a lift and we have all the proper equipment. Much more difficult to do in a gravel driveway....

Thus we deleted the countersinks and added two slots for the factory studs. If we receive feedback that people are having problems with this arrangement we can add a small skid plate just to cover the trans mount studs. This would increase production costs so we opted to wait for some real world experience before taking action that would cost you (the consumer) more.
Bud and I are tight. I pushed him to do the 80 skid for years, even told him I would let him have my 80 for as long at it takes. Ultimately it wasn't fitting into his production schedule with all the minitruck products he had under development. I asked if he would mind if I designed one similar to the mini-skids he does and he was okay with it, thus the IPOR 80 skid. Consequently Bud does sell FZJ80 skids, but we manufacture them. We sell Bud's FJ cruiser skids, as well as any other products we can find a market for.
There are drains for trans and tcase. Future models will include drains for the earlier 93-94 trans as well. We thought about doing the skid as a two piece but increased production costs became a concern.
Skid with brackets weighs about 60 lbs.
Please feel free to provide any feedback - we do listen!
