I am in the midst of putting FJ-60 power steering on my 40.

While swapping columns from 40 to FJ55 columns, I discovered another source of slop on the FJ40 columns (9/72 to 84)

The bushing # 47 in this picture:

was pretty worn out and oblong in my column...

I'd buy the bearing Kurt sells for his powersteering swap to replace that part. You would have to sand out the inside of the bearing to get it to fit but it would make a much better replacement.
