As part of my ongoing maintenance and refurbishment of my 2000 Land Cruiser I'm freshening up the sway bar bushings and mounts. This list is for anti-roll bars only. I will be doing the control arm bushings as well in a separate list. I'm using all OEM parts.

Note: Some of the lock nuts have changed for later model crusiers - double check with toyota for the proper part numbers for your truck.

Just a couple notes... If you buy the front sway bar link assemblies, I believe it already comes with the bushing (48849-60010) installed. So, if you buy that list, you'll have two extra bushings leftover. I purchased end bushings only and pressed them into my old links which were in good condition. Takes a little extra time. You don't need a press, a bench vise and soapy water will do.

For those with AHC, this rear bushing will be different but the bracket is the same. I believe the front is the same AHC or not.

If your suspension is lifted, I'd forego these rear links and get those 80 series extended links from MAF or whoever else offers them.

If you are running extended rear shocks, I'd check your rear sway bar brackets as one of mine was bent pretty good prior to getting extended links.

Hoser, according the Beno the end links do not come with hardware or bushings. I thought that they did too when talking to him a couple of weeks ago for a parts order (since pretty much every aftermarket option comes "loaded" w/ the hardware and bushings pre-installed), but if you want them from Mr. T, they come bare.

That is the case for the rear end links but the front is as packaged in the post above... unless Mr T. changed it recently.

Hm. I will have to readdress this with him then.

I ordered just 48849-60010 x 2 this morning, I'm going the vice and soapy water route. Is anyone with extended length front shocks extending the front links as well as the rear?

That is bare. You need more parts to refurb sway bar links.

Your comment is out of context then. The discussion point was the rubber bushing inserted in the link (48849-60010), not the rubber cushions or caps on top of the link.

By the "need more parts" theory you need an entire Land Cruiser to refurb the sway bar. :hillbilly:

How do you reconcile that I just bought built front links? See above photo.

I somehow missed the picture posted above. Rob, that is a bare link. There are two additional rubber pieces/washers/hardware that need to go on them too.

This is what you get at Rockauto.com from Raybestos:

On my rig, those two additional rubber bits are shot and need to be replaced.

I'm confused. The topic in question is the end bushing right? The image shows the bushing already pressed in. Hoser and RobRed are correct. The threaded open end of the link needs a cap, cushion (according to Toy), and nut to fix to the sway.

The rear is bare... no bushing at all.

The front can be bought either way. The two additional rubber parts (cushions) are certainly replaceable and you would need them whether you bought the assy. with the bushing (48820-60032/not bare) or just the bushings (48820-60032).

not sure if it helps or is more confusing but iirc from when i replaced mine, the two rubber pieces above the end link are called cushions and the rubber piece inside the end link is called bushing - at least those are the terms used in toyota parts descriptions.

also fyi - the rubber bushing doesn't require a press - it can be pushed in by hand no biggie.

You're reiterating the terms I previously used... No added confusion.

I completed the refresh on my 150k cruiser and the results are very positive. Flatter corning, smoother over bumps and reduced steering slop. Even my copilot said she noticed the difference.

:hhmm: . My front sway bar is broken (mount broke a while ago) and my rear bushings don't really do anything anymore since it's dry rot and cracked. Hopefully this is what I need. Thanks for the list!
