Well, after hunting for a little bit, one of the Upstate guys saw a Craigslist ad for an LX470...in Georgia. So my brother took a look and I decided to pull the trigger. 2002 LX470, 120K, big service was done at 100K, all records are perfect, some rock chips and minor wear and tear, but all in all in good shape.

Anyone feel like driving her from Georgia to Houston for me???

Congrats. Nice looking LX.

The south is taking over!!! Love the wheels. You buy be a plane ticket and I'll :steer: it anywhere.

man, you're missing out on how absolutely rockin' these rigs are on road trips (in addition to wheeling).

oh, and congrats on the purchase!

Very true, I try to get to Vegas at lease once a year and I would rather take the 100 than the plane any day! It's just getting 6 other people to ride with me and pay for my gas that prevents it sometimes :)

Amazing how a good vehicle can really make flying suck even more. :D

Nice LX! Don't see many that color which is very cool... Guess the economy has turned around since everyone is buying new LC's and LX's... Lot's of new people on the 100 Forum lately...

I love road trips in the 100. I'd rather drive than fly if its under 1,000 miles. Than driving gets more expensive

Welcome over to the 100s , since you already know Land Cruisers , are you going to mod it or keep it stock ? Cant image you keeping it stock for long.... Share your plans.

k9crazy - BTW - I love your FJ55... Awesome restoration... I've seen it for sale previously and was drooling over it... If I didn't have 2 Cruisers currently under the knife I'd love to pick the Piggy up...

Congrats Heather. Didn't know you moved to Houston. You sure you trust your brother :D

Thanks y'all! It did come out of GA, but was from Charleston before that. Bought it from a guy that flips cars pretty regularly. I think I got a good deal. These are selling here for between $3000-5000 more in Houston than in Atlanta. Even if I have to put it on a hauler, it's still cheaper than buying local.

My brother (DanKunz) checked it out for me and gave it the thumbs up, so at least I know I am not getting a lemon.

I do plan on modding it, mostly for mile family wheeling and expedition/camping type stuff. I have 2 little kids (and all the associated crap) so the FJ wasn't working for me anymore. I am trying to decide if I am going to get it here and then mod it or send it to ACC to have some work done before I bring it to Texas.

On the short list: lift, tires, sliders, blueberry bumper, and maybe swing out rear bumper. It's going to depend on the funds available.

Denver was really my first choice, but it wasn't going to work for my company. So here I am...Texas. I never thought I would end up here!

I do trust my brother. He has a pretty good track record with these things. He bought his 55 (which eventually became FJBen's) sight unseen in N. Dakota and drove it home. He bought the Avocado in TX sight unseen and drove it home. And he just bought a 1971 Fiat in Arizona and drove it home. He's either good or one lucky son of a bitch!

I would rather drive it stock and build it up. That way you can appreciate all the work and mods. I'm sure you have been there before with the 55 and FJ. That 55 is awesome ( saw it when GA Cruisers used to have their meetings at Fudruckers a long time ago). I think my 100 was still stock at the time.

But if you want to build it then see it, ACC.

swing-out rear really cuts down on the functionality of a family hauler. JMHO.

Heather,

nice car and colour! You've joined a great forum and the people here have a lot of knowledge about the Lexus and the Landcruiser itself, and the Lexus is just a great evolution from the original.

There's other forums around the world should you go down other modification paths, such as Lexus-Toyota V8 Performance Forum and while i recommend you browse there in your spare time if you are into tuning the "beast", it's a lot different to ih8mud.

Others on here will let you know too!
take care
cheers

Heather and her brother are old timers here and her green star indicates she is one of the forum moderators (A different section). Thanks for the link, I'll have to check it at home. It's blocked from work.

BTW- I meant no slap. I would rasie a stubbie with you if I could
