1998 UZJ build thread

A little background info lol

The reason why I decided to go with a landcruiser was because my Dad used to drive the 40 series in the picture below. pls dont flame me for having a 40 series pic in the 100 thread

Before I got my 100 series, I was driving this 4 runner

Finally! On to the 100 series and the way it started out!

Don't laugh, but I had a brush guard for a little bit

I am kinda mad that 4runner and 80 series bumpers, sliders, etc are way cheaper than parts for the 100 series. But I do not regret getting the 100 series and adding to it, Jus cant replace the V8:flipoff2:

When we recommended 866's that was in conjunction with a full kit. Not sure how the truck is going to drive if you crank the front torsion bars all the way to gain the lift to match the rear. 866's is what we sell with out heavy lift and typically the minimum weight we have on that is a aftermarket bumper ( with no tire carrier).

You are stiffening up the rear of the truck a lot and the front not. So handling might not be optimal.

Ohhhhhh. Cos when I called ARB they told me, if I get 866 springs, not to change the torsion bars yet because I don't have an aftermarket front bumper. But looks like I'll just get the torsion bars at the same times so I can stay on the safe side. I saw somebody on here running SLEE off road springs(SOF2RH). I'm considering those as well. Are they much different from the OME springs?

5 to 6 lug is not possible with an adapter. It is possible, but not easily $$$$ done

The quote was from my other post^^^^But you can get spacers that convert from one 5 lug pattern to another 5 lug pattern? I was going to get the spacer from NTWonline. They have a spacer that can convert my 5 lug pattern(5 x 150) to a 5 on 4.5(bolt pattern on most Jeeps). I'm doing this because I have more options in terms of aftermarket wheels. Also, can somebody tell me how much backspacing there is on the stock 100 series rims?

LJ, that's not going to work.

1) 5x4.5 has a bolt circle (center to center) of 114.3mm. The center bore (hub size) on the 100 is 110mm. Take your front and rear center caps off and examine it a bit with a ruler. This may help you understand what I'm saying. A jeep owner could use 100 series wheels with an adapter but not the other way around.

2) Most 5x4.5 wheels are near zero offset. Add any size spacer and you'll be in the negative offset arena. Say it was a zero offset, 8" wide wheel, or 4.5" backspacing. Add 1" spacer and you'll be down to 3.5" backspacing.

The 100 uses +60mm offset wheels (8") width. This is almost 7" of backspacing.

Which wheel style do you want?

Mickey Thompson classic locks. The only ones I can get with a 5x150 pattern is the classic II's

I have 866 and stock that's with a heavy ass arb. It rides stiff in the back over bumps. But upfront is nice. I would prefer the ome tbars, but the stock ones compress so nicely.

Truck looks good man. If you Photoshop, just darken the color of your rims and see what it would look like ( that's what I did for a few weeks to see IF I wanted it). I rattled My rims and it's been about a 8 months. They look great. But slightly chipping and the brake dust has sorta eaten it's way a bit. So it's kinda "whitish" looking in spots.

I wrote a DIY on the painting. Along with detailed pics.

PM me if ya want more insight on how the springs ride. Been using them for 4 months now. No regrets.

Thank you! I sent you a PM about the springs and rims!

I'm waiting for my OME 866 springs to come. I do however have something new to share. Clear turn signals! I want to get the HID projector lights in the future.

I love your truck. It's not only my favorite color, but looks badass. Can't wait to see what else is next.

Thank you! I'm trying to draw up some plans for a custom tube bumper, that grille guard is bugging me haha

I was just wondering, is it possible to weld those weld on beadlock rings to my OEM rim? can someone help me

Welding simulated beadlocks onto rims makes it hard to balance(really hard).

Take the brushgaurd off and mount the lights on the stock bumper. I did it, looks great ( I had a brush gaurd too ugh)

Spray your grill and front emblem black.

Hope to see it soon!

Looks good

what do you mean by hard to balance? cos I was thinking black OEM rims with a red beadlock ring haha or some other color and good news! OME springs coming this week:) will be installed in the next two weeks!

Why do I feel like you should have bought a mini-truck? :flipoff2:

Hard to balance as in, tire balance, as in, your truck will shake like crazy at speed because you wont be able to get them trued out. Weld on bead locks are designed for rock crawlers.

ohhh got it. thank you

If you really want to do it, send them to Champion beadlock and they can convert them to beadlocks. Not sure if they do fake beadlocks.

These are 80 series wheels that were converted to beadlocks.

slee, i got your stickers. i dont know if you saw the thread i made. i was waiting for you to see it!

i saw ARB's prototype (prototype arb products) suzuki pick-up a few months ago, and it had simulated beadlocks, Mike said at 40 it had a massive vibration. they said it was impossible to balance them and keep them balanced. i like the look as well.
