I've got a Yamaha Big Bear 400, and it used to run just fine. Recently however, it started seeming to "skip" a lot, and would barely run. I've replaced the spark plug, but that didn't change anything. I've replaced the ignition coil, and that didn't change anythiing.

It will idle in neutral just fine sometimes, but then as soon as you go into gear and try to go anywhere, it will bog out and usually shut off.

I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I've also found oil in the bottom of the air filter box.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong with it?

Oil in the filter box can be a sign of blow by or of being driven too hard or blocked crank ventilation.

By "skip" ,do you mean the engine is missing?
