I need one for my 7800. It looks like a telephone cord from the pics on ebay. Is it really what they use... telephone extension cord? Anyone here ever make one?

not any telephone cord will do, it's gotta have the 6 wires connected instead of 4 or something like that. I got mine at OSH for a few bucks. Keep in mind you still have to deal with the speaker though if you stash your receiver way out in the back...
Yup I made one. Some 6-conductor cable and a couple of RJ crimps. You need a crimping tool, fortunately my RJ-45 ethernet tool also came with dies to do the 4 and 6 conductor plugs.

I have an external speaker I bought for that. I believe that it is a mls-100. I have not opened it.

I did find out that Radio Shack does not supply this. The site listed above talks about going to walmart to get the supplies to make it.
