I have a stock 1978 FJ40. If I have 12V at the battery, what voltage should I read at the coil downstream of the ignition and pink resistor wire? I have no additional ballast resistance between the ignition switch and coil other than the pink wire resistor. Currently I read 10V, is this correct?

Thanks,
Sam

Measuring the voltage is really dependent on the meter being used - some read high/low of the actual voltage. Using the same meter to do all the testing minimizes any differences. I think a good battery will read at least 12.5 volts and you should get 12 at the coil. My 72 doesn't have all that smog stuff.
