I went with a 4" TPI Smokey Mountain Lift (OME springs and Black Diamond shocks) it came as a full kit from TPI4x4.com and everything was included except the extended brake lines. They usually have a sale in December, I got it shipped to my front door for $680. Like you I wanted to go SOA but couldn't spend 3 times the $$$ to get there and couldn't stand the 28" tires any longer

To give you more of an idea what you want, here is a 4" Skyjacker with standard length shackles and ollllld 31's. Its got about 250-300 lbs of tongue weight on it in that pic, so thats why its leanin back a little, with out all the weight in it it sits level.
