Looking to get my A/c buttoned up and serviced (vortec swap). Any recommendations for a shop in the valley that wont try to rip me off??

I already contact Rex @ coolstream in Tucson to no avail... never got a response.

Thanks for the heads up!!

Air components in Mesa is an awesome shop

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Auto Air Depot on Cave Creek Road hooked me up with custom hoses and an aftermarket condensor.

13051 North Cave Creek Road Phoenix, AZ 85022
(602) 923-2886

They aren't a service shop. They will get you what you need and crimp hoses.

Is the aftermarket condenser any better than stock? what series landcruiser?

Yes it is better. Better in that it cost less than $200. Better in that it blows 34 degrees measured at my vent. Better in that the hoses have less points to leak. Better in that I got to cut my old toyota condensor apart to make my own brackets. Better in that it is smaller. Better in that sweat is not dripping down my butt crack.

Better than the first time I had Toyo motors on Belll road "convert" my old stock toyota stuff charged me $300-$400 and it blew warm piss air.

Mike, what model cruiser you rolling? And is the condenser one of the newer style micro fin, or whatever it is called? I would live more info on how you addressed this. I Freon levels are good, high side low side stuff. But my ac temps aren't quite as cool as I would like. If there is something I can do to help that out, it would be fantastic. I was Hoping to tear it all down this winter and clean and r&r, so would be optimal time to modify.....

ADS (Automotive Diagnostic Services) in Chandler (Chandler Blvd, east of 56th St), reconnected my AC after my 3.4L swap. They work on tons of custom vehicles and even have a tech that is a Toyota specialist.

I'm an FJ-60...I dunno about the micro fin stuff...they guys told me the condenser is approx 30% more efficient that the one that was in it. And the size is smaller. <shrug>

Good Luck!

TEN YEAR BUMP!!!

any more recent recommendations? I actually need an R12 service. PS Auto Air Depot is no longer open

[edit] Made an appt with Service First on Cave Creek on Thursday - will report back

[2nd edit] John & Laurie are great - would definitely recommend for AC work (or possibly any other maintenance needed). They had me in & out for an R12 top-off in under 25 minutes. He liked the 62, and told me he had done an LS swap on a 60 series a few years ago.

Note - they're a very small shop so you'll most likely need an appointment for any work.

On Cave Creek near Cactus (across the street from Network Alignment - also recommended here on CSC)
