The fire cannot safetly be extinguished and the only safe way is going to be to sink the ship or let it drift like a ghost ship until the hull crumples and it sinks itself. There is reportedly around 500 EV's from various makers on board the vessel. First vessel to have this occur was the Felicity Ace, now it's the Fremantle Highway.
There are currently NO laws or regulations related to EV safety (primarily when charging and left unattended) for residential premises by they single free-standing houses or multi-occupancy buildings with probably a significant underground carpark which in the future may have up to 50 pct of more of the vehicles present being EV's.
There are now however stupid laws that make it an offence to park a non-ev in a parking space that's been removed from 'open' use and turned into a dedicated EV-only one, and make it an offence even to park an EV in such a spot if the driver is not going to connect it up to be charged.
