My passenger seat stopped sliding back, a while back (still goes fwd). Today I found this cap on the floor. If I'm not mistaken, this has something to do with the seat fwd/back function. If that's true, can this be reinstalled or do I need a new one?

The gear or gears behind the cap(s) is what you need to replace. That can be reused.

Then get a cap guard so it doesn't pop out again.

Installed a new gear tonight. Seems like I did something wrong. I pulled it all back apart and I couldn't see an issue. If anything it sounded worse after the 2nd time. Seems like it might be coming from the motor side. Only thing I can figure is that the washers in the motor gear are backwards (I put the metal one first, then plastic, then the gear). Any ideas?
