Does anyone know if the OEM LONGER (12.5" vs. 10.75") "carrier" will will bolt up and fit in place on the stock support where the original factory installed one is the shorter version? I ask because they seem very similar except for one is just 2" longer, I assume just to accept a bigger battery (series 27 vs. a 24 series) I want the bigger (800cca vs. 650cca) 2" longer battery if possible. Toyota spec's out the slightly longer carrier for '79 & newer 40's but if it fits my '77, I say hey, why not? Anyone got some insight? Hey "Poser", I'll bet you know sumptin' bout this?

AFAIK they are interchangeable. I install the short one if doing AC in a newer 40, and the longer one if doing a big winch battery in an early truck.
BTW, There's this cool tool called a 'drill' that says the holes will always line up.;)
