Project 24v engine in 12v body ! (pictures)

This is the project im bussy with the coming time,combining a new clean 12v body with a 24v engine and shassis;

the last picture is the burned body.

The 24v alternator is also burnt so i think the most easy way to get this 12v-24v combination alive is;

to just use a 12v starter and alternator on the engine ?

Am i right ?

That's what I would do. Try to convert everything to 12V if possible. You will need more than just the alternator and starter to convert it to 12V.

Depending on your glow system (manual glow or super glow) you'll have to replace the glow controller for manual glow or the timer unit (and or glow screen) for super glow.
If you have an EDIC system (engine shut off with the key) you'll have to replace that unit too.

What about the idea to put the 2 batterys in serie instead of parralel ?

Is that possible en if so whats involved ?(other input to make this project progress are also verry mutch appticiated !)

If you put 2 batteries in series you'll have 24V.
That's good for the engine but now you have to change all the 12V parts. Lightbulbs, heaterfan, etc, etc, all the other electrical stuff.

Why not transfer all the 12V stuff from the old engine to the new engine?

If that works that would be perfect ! i bought the body without the engine but im sure i can find this italian 2.5turbodiesel parts verry easy here !!

I think ill have to see the voltage specific parts to know if they fit or can be modified to fit to the 3B ? or does somebody know ?
(if there is a site that says "also fits.."

Pff my head hurts im happy when its fixed

Let me see if have the picture...
You have a BJ73 chassis and body and all the electrical stuff is 12V. Right?
Your old truck is/was a 24V BJ73 with a VM5 engine. Right?
You want to put in a 3B or a VM5. Which one?

An engine is not 12V or 24V. The electrical stuff on the engine makes it a 12 or 24V engine.
The electrical stuff is:
Glow system, starter, alternator and EDIC system. Maybe I forget something but that's not important at this point.
The big question is can you get the 12V parts from the old engine or do you have to buy them?

Yes i have a bj73 body with all the electrics 12v,thats right.

My old truck was/is a 24v bj73 with a 3B engine.

I want to put the 12v vm5 body on the 24v 3B Shassis and engine.

I can not get the 12v parts of the old 12v vm5 engine that was in the 12v vm5 body i bought because i bought it engineless.

I can find the 12v vm5 engine parts quite easy here,but im not sure the will fit my 3B engine ?

So the 12V shopping list is;
Starter, Alternator (with vacuum pump?), Glow plugs and EDIC system.
Am I missing something?

24v edic works with 12v also if i remember right. anybody knows this for sure ?

Got a 12v starter motor(valeo) and gonna mount a terrano II 12v alternator with vacuum pump

Also put antioxidant paint on the chassis which i cleaned with Industrial degreaser and hobby pressure wascher

nobody likes it ? i could also use white paint i think id like that better but thats for another project maybe in the future.
