do you have to get your vehicle emissions tested?

OK, got you. just checked this. 2019 - 1997 is 22 years. so yeah they want it.

have you pulled the upper plenum off and pulled the injectors out?those pics are they your vehicle?
no. they're previously posted pics. just doing a sort of illustrated and labeled cheat sheet for myself as i get a parts order together. figured to label everything so it is a paint by numbers effort and to post them up when i am done in case they can help others...
even if i go in and do the quickie fix i can have it for later when i have parts here and the time to dive into it.

oh ok i get it
here is the parts people i use
Select Parts Category - 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser | toyota-parts
if you don't get a quick enough response here you can search their website and get a good idea on how things work/connect.
norwalk is great i live in ga and usually get my parts in 2 days,I've gone to toyota dealers closer to me>10 miles and get 2 weeks when i ask about ordering parts........or they try and sell me a car.............

For anyone needing the Toyota factory part number diagram for vacuum hoses under and around the intake / throttle body

1997 FZJ80 195k miles
I started getting the P0401 error code on my 97 FZJ80 not too long ago and aside from an occasional stumble at idle and, of course the engine light, my LandCruiser ran fine. I run 91 octane gas and I was getting around 13 mpg which I have heard is on the low side so I figured I would tackle this job.

Using the resources from this board (and this thread specifically), the job went well. I used all Toyota parts and went the extra mile in sending the injectors off to be cleaned. I meticulously cleaned all reusable parts (intake, egr, etc) and went through abut 10 cans of carb cleaner doing so. There actually wasn't as much gunk as I thought. I also installed an oil catch can and hopefully that will help decrease the carbon deposit buildup in the future.

I want to thank everyone on this board and specifically Cahill (the OP) who took the time to take pictures and provide a step-by-step tutorial. It really made it a lot easier in doing this job. For the most part I followed the guidelines but I opted not to remove any of the cables attached to the throttle body and instead just moved it aside and cleaned it separately.

In any case, I have ran the LandCruiser about 500 miles and have noticed a much smoother ride and increased mpg. The longest part of the job was waiting for the injectors to be cleaned. :)

Next you have some cleaning to do. I used Carb cleaner (same thing as throttle body cleaner) from the local autozone. I tried to get as much of the oil and carbon deposits out as I could, especially in the smaller ports of the manifold chamber.

The first 2 pictures show the usual areas of carbon blockage as they are the passages with the least space. The dashed line is a straight passage connecting a vaccuum hose from the top of the manifold to the bottom. It is circled in the second picure.

The last picture shows some of the EGR and EVAP components.
1. VSV for EGR (I replaced mine in this project)
2. VCV for EVAP
3. Check valve for EVAP (make sure it is facing as shown in the picture when you put things back together. It is a one way valve and you can test its function by blowing on either end.

Is this the part number for #3?

I assume you asking about the check valve for EVAP that I have circled in the last photo as number 3 and corresponds to my step 3 in the quoted portion? If so, I think the part number is 90917-10049 in my search but I never replaced that part so I don't have a receipt to be %100 sure.

Cleared my P0401 code with help from this thread. Have a ‘97 LC and there was cracked tubing at the nipples that run through the intake plenum. Both nipples on either end were corroded but I was able to use a pick to gently clear the hole and push it open. Replaced modulator and vsv, replaced all 3.5mm tubing plus more and cleaned intake to egr port.

It was more challenging to put everything back together than expected. One of the intake plenum nuts gave me fits to get back on.

Good stuff about a year ago I did the same thing replaced all my spark plug seals check the valves had my whole intake cleaned checked or replaced bench tested all the components and replaced all the tubing.

I'm with you I remember one of the intake plenum bolts I had to get from underneath near the fuel filter and it was a nightmare with like five different extensions.

Does anyone have a part number for the two washers/gaskets for the fuel line banjo bolt?

Partsouq and Toyota parts deal have detailed parts diagrams.

There are a few banjo washers shown, fuel rail inlet, filter inlet, filter outlet.

Is there a part number for the VSV harness that runs under the upper intake manifold?
You talking about the electrical connector harness that goes to the vac switches and injectors and all that?

If so I just replaced mine with the 1fz refresh and it's all one piece.

If so @NLXTACY has you covered.
