Hey guys was just thinking maybe it’s time I start a thread for 1fz-fe I have been rebuilding and selling them for a while now and figured I should start documenting it in a thread. I usually buy motors from trucks with a blown head gasket, but sometimes buy whole trucks and rebuild them and reinstall. I am currently putting together a brand new OEM short block and have a rebuilt one I’m picking up from the machine shop. I will include part numbers and pictures of the work i am doing. Engines always get taken down to the bare block so pistons and crank come out block gets hot tanked and painted. Bored out if necessary which they usually need it even when the cross hatching is present do to light vertical scoring on the cylinder walls. I used OEM over sized .50mm pistons. New Toyota rings. I check the crank per fsm and replace all the bearings. I check the connecting rods per fsm and replace the bearings. I replace the thrust washers. The block gets decked for flatness. I have replaced the oil pump bushing but they are usually in awesome shape and don’t require it my machine shop uses non corrosive cleaner so it doesn’t effect the brass. Next I take the head all the way down and the machine shop decks the head for flatness. Three way Valve grind is done and new valve guide seals are installed. The valves are adjusted. On assembly I do all new timing components only OEM is used. New head gasket and ARP head studs. I use the opel kit 209-4702 and the Supra kit 203-4205 for the two front studs under the camshafts. I install new oil cooler cover. I have been reusing the harmonic balancer on my previous builds but will be buying new ones for future rebuilds. Oil pans get jet washed and reinstalled. New front and rear main seals and Valve cover gasket along with spark plug tub seals. I will be documenting this next reassembly with part numbers coming up. A couple porn pictures for you motor junkies.
