Newbie with fuel tank question BJ40 (1 Viewer)

Hi guys and gals,

Just happened upon this forum whilst looking for an answer to a question I have(be gentle). I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1981 BJ40. Can anyone confirm if the gas tank on the FJ40 of the same year has the same size and specification as the BJ?. The current one sits behind me as opposed to under the seat in later ones I think? I've been in touch with a Land Cruiser specialist in NH and may have sourced a tank but just want to confirm its the correct one before pulling the trigger. Pic included of chassis plate.

I'm unaware of any market where there was a stock tank mounted from the factory anywhere except under the passenger seat or under the tub for later trucks.

Is your tank on top of the rear floorboard area, or under the floorboard behind the rear differential????

Any luck on replacing or rebuilding the door frames? I just purchased a 78 BJ40 in El Salvador that I’m going to start to work on. The door frames are also rusted. Looks like yours is coming along great. I wish I would have access to more parts down here. Especially the tubs!
