HAMOM December 12th, Durham, NC

Hey everyone, it's high time we have another HAMOM. This one will be at my house in south Durham (PM me for address). 9:00am start time!

What is a HAMOM you ask? Well, let me tell you all about it! A HAMOM, or Help a Member Out Meeting, is a place where a bunch of cruiserheads get together to help a a couple of others out with a project. The project might be something you're comfortable doing yourself and just need some help in certain areas, or it might be a large project where you need more people to help get the job done. Some past examples:

It's been a while since we've had one. The last one I was at was Brad's I think, this past February.

On the docket (so far) for the HAMOM on Dec 12th is a suspension lift on @Azn toyo 's 4Runner. We have a couple more slots for trucks to get some work done (minor or major) so if you're in the Triangle or Triad (or anywhere else) and need something done, post up!

List of work:
1. @Azn toyo 4runner suspension install (3rd gen)
@tgadd desmog and valve adjust (fj62)
2. @DeeRex valve gasket and adjustment + tps replacement (fj80)
3. @weejub locker troubleshooting
@lumbee1 PS Leak

If no one else has work to do on their trucks, then we will use this as a social gathering while a few people work on the 4Runner.

I have some things I want to do to Mabel and would prefer someone to supervise. Main items include desmog and valve adjust. Also, I'd like to help out and learn about the suspension install.

Awesome! Make sure you come with the plan and all components for the desmog and we'll get er done! I haven't done a desmog on a 3fe myself, but other local guys have @DeeRex

I have a 5k we are running with my daughter's Girls On The Run group that day, but would love to come by after.
The desog of the 3FE isn't a difficult task at all. Here is the guide I followed; written by Spook50. It was written for the FJ62 3FE, which is slightly different than my FJ80. You will want to order your blockoff plate and any plugs and belts in advance. There are several vendors that sell the plate and a few that sell the plate and plug. I liked the look of this plug. I emailed with the guy and seems solid.

If I'm able to make it, I'd like to try and get in for a valve gasket and adjustment, too. I'm overdue and know I need to take care of it.
I also have a TPS to swap out.

Just need the plug but have everything else. Thanks for the reminder that I need to source one of those plugs.

I'm really looking forward to next weekend. Im getting antsy to get the lift installed since a I've had it for a couple of months.

I need some help addressing the leak from my power steering. I see drips below but can't tell where it's coming from.

Best thing to do is clean all things related to the PS system, pump,steering box, cooler and multiple lines. After that park over a piece of card board and see if you can trace it back up stream. Lots of places to leak in that particular system.

After cleaning, spray on foot powder can help trace the source of a leak.
