I rebuilt a H42 four speed transmission out of a 1976 FJ40. I have it all back together but do not have the room to get the snap ring on the output side of the counter shaft. I have the snap rings on the input side. See the pictures. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I'm not sure but haven't I read about 2 different thickness of snap rings? Did you do a really good comparison of any replacement parts with the ones that came out? Could it be one of the bearings is in backwards?

How bout removing one or both bearing snap rings and push one or both bearings in enough to install that last shaft snap ring? Then work on prying the bearings back out to install their snap rings.
I'm not certain but I believe that's how I did mine.
