Sometimes both the diagnosis and repairs work out just right, and this is one of those times. With Randy's help, I chiseled off the old spacer and replaced the fuel pump with a spanky new one (and, yes, using two gaskets and a spacer, thanks for making sure I didn't forget those). Two cranks of the motor and there was fuel in the filter...two more and the engine fired right up. High fives all around.

Here is a pic as it sits now, with Qs, tree sliders and that wacky paint job.

Great! Now when do we see it on a trail run?

As soon as the future owner takes it out....unless he gets cold feet, this will be Jon Rutherford's in about two weeks.

And I will be cruiserless for the first time in 12+ years

Nice, good to see it stays in the YT family. You have plans for another?
I remember my first FG and you were Prez back then. You made a real point
to make me feel at home with YT. Always appreciated that and knew that YT
was the right club for me. Hope to see you back in a Cruiser soon.

NO cold feet here!

Only sleepless nights dreaming about the 40!

I assure you Dave, the rig will be driven and wheeled in your honor man...

Does that mean broken motor mounts, stove-in quarter panels and a pumpkin smash on every rock? Oh, wait---that would be "in my style" not "in my honor" ;)

Thanks, Satelite. And good luck to you with the house hunting.

Here is a pic of what I will see everday...a typical work truck in front of my buiding, note the little glimpse of a huge mountain thru the hole in the tree branches on the upper left ! Maybe I will bring something home...:hmm:
