FJ 60 backfire (1 Viewer)

A friend has a FJ60 that backfires when he kills the ignition. Any suggestions?

Fuel cut solenoid on the carb is stuck open.

Idle speed too high, timing too far advanced, overly rich fuel mixture. Pick two.

Retarded timing causes backfire too.

Timing and then needs to go through and adjust everything per FSM.
Time to start with valve adjustment, check plug sequence, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel screw, idle screw, vacuum lines, etc.
