Engine control unit (ECU)...does it record idle timing? (1 Viewer)

What timing info are you after, ignition or valve. If that is what your asking, sorry I don't really understand the question.

For the 2003-2007 series 100, does the ECU record (if so, how long) engine timing?

I did see reference to a timing ecu value on 4x4Wire - Tech: Understanding OBDII Engine Systems and Fuel Mixture Control which is geared to toyotas.

However, I would like a users input that has actually seen timing info on his/her ECU output.

Thanks in advance!
You can record, save and graphically display 60+ engine/transmission parameters, including ignition timing, in Techstream. Go into Engine and ECT Live, data list and hit the record tab. I think 5 minutes is the maximum you can record. You can then playback and select multiple parameters for graphical display. Or if you wish you can select the desired parameters for graphical display and monitor them whilst driving. Normal ignition timing for me is 11-13 degrees at hot idle.
