anybody used the Toyota Techinfo online site?

Just to let any other enlightened/disillusioned Mac users know... The TIS is NOT compatible with any Mac OS. I tried to pay my $10 before I read the system requirements  and found out after I tried to pay that I couldn't even log onto the site from my Mac.

I headed over to my in-laws house to use their Dell with a broadband connection and was delighted at how quickly the process went. I wish I had done a better job cataloging the various files as I downloaded them, but I probably only spent about 1.5 hours downloading all the various manuals ~ FSM, EWD, AT manual, etc.

FWIW, a few of the diagrams looked a little fuzzy on the screen, but when printed, they looked fine.

Well, Steve, that's encouraging. Maybe Toyota will be able to pry that $10 from my tight little fists after all.

RavenTai: I didn't keep my query to them as it was in a web form on their site. It was rather basic - I just stated my need and asked for any assistance they could provide. However, I did bother the young woman at 1st level support for quite some time until she agreed to send an email as well to the site admin on my behalf.

Spressomon: I got the impression from Toyota that they want to control the flow of this information. You're right, these days you almost have to work extra hard to limit the flow of information. This may be one of those cases.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice.

Steve,

Interesting...I didn't have a problem at all. I'm currently using a Powerbook running Tiger (10.4). At the time of downloading from the TIS, I used 10.3.

Maybe you have a plug-in missing...

Hmmm...
I also have a PowerBook that is currently running 10.3. I guess I am missing a plug-in. I couldn't even log onto the system. It would take my user name and password when I set up an account, but I couldn't get past the subscription screen or log in to see the files for download. I'll have to dig a little deeper about the JavaScript plug-in I seem to be missing.

Thanks,
Steve

It's what a PC wants to be :flipoff2:

BTW...my mac works fine with TIS. Just have to have Acrobat 5, not the most recent version. This is true of the PCs too.

PCs are to Macs as Land Cruisers are to Jeep Cherokees.

I've heard of them but never seen one in person. They're supposed to be cute and I am happy for you that you own a Mac.... not that there's anything wrong with that. :D

Whatever browser you choose has to have pop-ups enabled.

Steve, you might give their tech support a call. After talking to them for a while the other day, it sounded as though that's what the first level was geared toward - connnection troubleshooting, compatability, etc.

By the way, I need to weigh in on the Mac thing. Although I use a PC, I do so mostly due to the cost savings - I build my own and get a nice machine for a lot less. But, if money wasn't an option, I'd use a Mac for 90% of my computing. Sure, they're pretty and all, but they're built very well, too, hardware-wise. The operating system and other software is easy to use on the surface but still offers robust options. They're quality machines that are getting better all the time.

* Forget trying to automate this process. I killed a few hours with HTTrack and WSGet. Don't waste your time.

Thanks for the heads-up Raven. If the process by CBS works I will gladly eat those words. :D

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up guys. I just did the easy traditional route and downloaded each file individually, filing in folders as needed. It took about 2 hours w/DSL but money well spent as I saw at least part of each file as I named it. Ms. Piggy and I thank you.

'91 FJ-80 Ms. Piggy, bone stock and VERY clean, but not for long............

This thread is a couple years old, so wanted to give it a bump.

The original zip file with the folder layout is no longer available online. Would anyone with a fully index'd copy of the manual for an FZJ80 be willing to send be a copy if I provide a receipt for a Toyota Tech membership? I certainly don't mind paying for the membership... but hate to recreate the wheel if I don't have too.

Update - The two day sub is now $20.

Very little mention of quality in the posts, specifically the images. The sample on the website shows no image. Digital copies I've seen are pretty poor with some pictures barely usable.

Is there a download yet like other models? All I need it for is the axle.... (unless I ever get an 80 in the future)😂
