My sister has a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Last summer she mentioned that her air conditioning was acting "wonky" and then the next week quit working.
The blower is moving air but it is not cold.
I went to test the refrigerant level on the low pressure valve and found that the level read "Full" however the compressor was not turning on at that reading.
When the A/C was turned on high I found that the compressor would try to turn on but 1 second later would turn itself off. (Compressor won't stay on).
When the compressor was not on (even when it should have been) the gauge for the refrigerant level read full.... and the half-second that the compressor tries to turn on the gauge drops down a lot.....
What I am looking at here and how can I troubleshoot this problem?
Thanks for any help...
