I have a 1HZ engine for sale. I'm not sure of mileage. I bought it off a guy here in my town who had got it from Smith Detroit/Smith Power here in town. He had no idea what it came out of, he said he thought it came out of a land cruiser and he didn't know anything about it, not even that it was a 1hz -- just knew it was a toyota diesel, other than he had gotten it from them and had it a couple months before deciding he couldn't make it work in his yota pickup and that it does turn over. So when I picked it up it had been sitting in his back yard. He didn't know how long Smith had had it.

So, there is no flywheel or starter. No AC. It does come with an alternator that spins freely. Vacuum pump is there. Power steering pump is there. Injection pump is there. All that is unmolested.

I pulled both the valve cover and the oil pan. Oil was nice and black, no signs of water or anything else. Pan was clean, no signs of debris of any kind or sludge. Cam looked beautiful! I did not realize these things are girdled so I didn't pull to check a main bearing but I did pull the #2 rod cap (because it was there and easy to get to) and the bearing looked good and the journal looked good.

I did look up into the cylinders, to see what I could see and turned the engine over so I could look at them all, from all I could see at the bottom end, which isn't much, the cylinders look good with crosshatching, and no scoring.

Engine turns over with a bar but feels normal for compression. Don't have a starter so I can't do a compression test. Attempted to stick a bore scope into the cylinders but oh yeah it's IDI... I did test 1 glow plug, just for fun and it works!

What else can I say?

Asking $2800 located in North Eastern Nevada, I will entertain driving up to 4 hours for cost of fuel. Shipping is possible?? I'm thinking Fastenal??

edit: Sold

turns out it's really hard to take a picture of the cylinder walls from underneath

I used lubriplate assembly lube before I put it back together... retorqued to toyota specs

Best representation of an engine without a compression test I have seen, I almost pulled the trigger! Cheers to Max for taking the time to represent!

Was about the best I could do without pulling the head. Or doing a compression test. Didn't take long... Figured it'd help everyone, me included. Thanks!

I have one or two of these if you're serious Chris ..........

Lol

EDIT/CORRECTION:
You need ANOTHER project.
