As much as I've enjoyed my 80, it's time to make a change.

1997 Toyota Land Cruiser
Dark green with gray leather
240k miles
Factory lockers

Engine freshly rebuilt (over $3K in parts and machining) I've probably put 500+ miles on it since the rebuild.

Head:
Head surfaced, valves ground, 3 angle valve seats
valves adjusted, new timing chain, gears, tensioner and guides.
All gaskets replaced (there was no head gasket issue, the timing chain
had jumped two teeth), new head bolts
new Denso plug wires, Denso Iridium spark plugs, cap & rotor

Block:
main and rod bearings inspected and reinstalled (they looked like new)
crosshatch still visible on all cylinder walls, pistons cleaned and reinstalled
new motor mounts, alternator brushes and starter contacts replaced,

and pump re-sealed.
Powder coated satin black wheels with 285/75-16 Nitto Terra Grappler tires (less than 10k miles)
Alignment done at time of tire installation

Brakes:
Brake Performance slotted rotors and ceramic pads on all 4 corners (100 series pads up front)
Alas these expensive rotors have slightly warped, slight pedal pulsation when stopping,
but I have the stock Toyota rotors turned and ready to go back on. Brake fluid has been replaced with fresh Dot 4
Brake booster replaced June ’14 along with the vacuum hose and check valve for the booster

Transmission:
All lines replaced, fluid replaced with synthetic and front pump seal replaced

Bump for a really nice 80. Do you have any contact info for the guy that did the bumpers? I've been looking and I like yours better than any I've seen. Good luck, I'm sure this one will go fast

Thanks!
Tommy Gort of Tommy Gunn Fabrication in Phoenix did the bumpers. He can build pretty much any design you'd like. For my front bumper, I sent him pictures of four different bumpers and said I'd like this part of this bumper, this part of this one, etc then he drew up a design and sent it to me and we changed a few details and he did the fab (1/4" plate). The price was very fair. His number is 480-200-0543 or email tpgort@yahoo.com

Awesome! Thank you, sir

Just had mine rebuilt too. Took like 4 weeks though. Actually a place down there in Tucson did it.

Update: New 5 year warranty battery installed. Factory roof rack re-installed. Fresh oil change with Rotella and a Denso filter.

Best deal I've seen in a long time. GL!

Can this run another 150k miles ?

It went 240k before the rebuild and it should go another 240k at least. Of course I've met folks who could blow up anything...

Thanks so much Rex!

I haven't had chance to post on here, but I had a verbal agreement with the seller along with a flight booked (non refundable) to pick the Land Cruiser up , and he sold it anyway. My fault for not putting deposit down , but I figured booking a flight was sufficient.

In the future buy local or put deposit down I suppose.

Thanks for not putting a deposit down, this thing is awesome!

Rex (the seller) is a great guy him and his wife were very welcoming and had meticulous documentation.
